Doesn’t AGA look proud
AMAZING show for team REDENS
I was so emotional last night when AGA was awarded Judges Choice in the Huacaya Supreme lineup by judge Nick Harrington-Smith. A few minutes earlier Surtierra Shadow won the sires progeny class and during the show six of Shadows offspring won Champion or Reserve Champion. AGAmemnon – champion black male, Burberry – reserve champion black male, Athena – champion black female, Bodica – reserve champion black female, Barista – reserve champion brown male, Bronte – reserve champion brown female.
This was the first Halter Show for the East of England group in a lovely location, lots of space for trailers etc. made it feel relaxed from the start. These shows are such hard work to set up and so many people involved to get it right on the day. Harley should be feeling very proud this morning and I am sure exhausted but when things go well, it is all worth while. I am a great believer in your get out of life what you put into it.
Breeding Alpacas is a slow journey, females are so important and the early we years we put all our focus in finding the right females to establish the Redens herd. To begin with we purchased matings from outstanding sires only purchasing our own males in recent years once we were very clear about what we wanted. Surtierra Shadow who we jointly own with Inca Alpaca 50/50 has been an important step and helped set the mark for our herd. These results are pleasing and show the consistent quality we have strived to achieve. We believe only the best of the best should be used as stud males and it is only now that we feel confident enough to have males that we are willing to release as herd sires to share these genetics with our clients. We feel we have reached a point where we can see, through the success at shows, that we are on the right path towards breeding and achieving our goal, which is to bring black alpacas on a par with fawn and white alpacas!
